He was quite a famous person here in Poland, a well-known enterpreneur and maecenas of arts. His real name was in fact "Monkielewicz" with "o" instead of "a". He changed his name when he was young and that part of Poland was under Russian Tsar's occupation, to avoid being sent to Siberia, and then it stayed that way.
He is burried in a most famous Warsaw cemetary "Powazki" and his grave has a historic value.The sculpture on it was made by a well-known artist Stanis³aw Lewandowski.
