Note
From Robert Magnuski:

Hank,

I stopped in diocese archive in Wloclawek while on the trip to Bydgoszcz yesterday. I managed to do some reseacrch based on the data from Geneteka. I worked with a reader as original registers were not permitted for search. It seems that Nicolas stayed in Wloclawek for a short time and there were no more kids born over there. Except of Lucya there was quite a time gap between birth and baptism as he were allowing time to his family to come over to Wloclawek and celebrate birth of the kids together. Even Sobczynskis arrived and joined the party. Lucy Genevieve was born in January and it's probably because of the winter weather her baptism was not postponed till other members of the family could arrive.

Note
His duty was closer to a policeman rather than a lawyer but no doubt he must have received some appropriate training and education. I do not know how the education system was organized at that time in Warsaw. What impresses me is that a son of a miller received that prestigious position in Warsaw's Trybunal ‎(Court)‎. Was he a man of such a talent and personality or was there someone behind who supported him? Or both. If there was someone behind the only one I can think of is Jozefat Magnuski, patron ‎(advocate)‎ of Warsaw's Court, husband of Tekla Nowicka, brother of Domicella.

Why Wloclawek? His marriage entry at his being 30 reads he was a court executor officer thus he had already worked in that capacity and needed no trial or training period in a smaller location to get experience. The income of a lawyer / court executor depends on the number of cases. The more cases more income. What would make Mikolaj leave the largest and capital city of Poland to move to a provincial location with a population ‎(and number of cases)‎ 4-5 times smaller than Warsaw? Was there a vacancy there that was better paid than the one in Warsaw? Was there a demand for such an officer and the Court in Woclawek appealed to Warsaw for some assistance and Mikolaj was asked to go because he was young? Or as you think there was some relative who recommended him to come over and get that position for financial benefits. If that was a case why he stayed there so short?

If the court registers from 1860's in Wloclawek survived they may contain some explanation?

For me equally intriguing is what made Tadeusz leave Warsaw and settle in a tiny village of Byszew in Leczyca district. Did he get an education in agriculture ? I doubt because his marriage entry does not mention that he was a land owner or of similar profession Was he a miller? Rather not because it would be unlikely that a mayor of Grabkowo would be a witness to a marriage of a miller. He is only addressed in the entry Generosus meaning from nobility The only thing we know is that area was inhabited by Magnuskis from nobility. If you asked me I would rather expect that he was invited to that area by a relative to live with him for a time or for some other opportunity which could have been that girl whom he married. I doubt Tadeusz in Warsaw would even know of a tiny village of Byszew if there were not some kind of connection there.

Robert
